Isn't it high time that "police" got included in the Concurrent List of the Constitution?
Item 2A in Union List allows centre to deploy armed forces in any state in aid of the civil authorities in emergency situations."Public Order" is a subject that can best be handled by an agency closer to the ground and police is the best agency to do that.So there is no need to take away "police" from State List and include it in the Concurrent List. However, the centre should take every steps to ensure that the efficiency of police forces in all states is substantially raised to higher standards.
